DWB: Driving While Bearded

Thoughts and Ramblings

A new meaning to DWB, it’s for white people too, those that have a beard that is.

This isn’t to take away from the serious issue with the traditional racial profiling.  And I know plenty of wonderful law enforcement officers who aren’t a-holes.

We live in a world full of false perceptions of others.  One of the earlier analogies I remember hearing as a child was the famous, “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover”.  Yet today, probably more than ever, we do just that.  We look at people and immediately an evaluation begins.  Not always are they bad judgments, sometimes they are friendly and encouraging judgments like, “she’s pretty” or “he’s really good at his job” or “they do a lot for the community”.

Regardless, they are judgments, and the very thought process that these come from, both good and bad, are the reason that we aren’t able…
