English WOTD

A nickname for the small impromptu but very brightly decorated private vehicles that people share to get around in Haiti. You tap twice to signal you want to get on or off. A ride costs about a quarter.

Tap-taps and larger buses are described as painted in carneval colors and cheerful slogans, decorated with flowers, animals, stories and proverbs, to look beautiful, cared-for and welcoming to passengers.
