Say farewell to iconic ‘Parówki’ trams

Warsaw’s iconic Parówki trams are making their final journeys, and will disappear from the streets by the end of this month.

They are noisy, uncomfortable, cold in the winter and hot in the summer, not to mention uneconomical, yet for some they are symbols of the capital which are as recognisable as the Palace of Culture.

A spokesman for Warsaw transport said the trams were to be replaced by a more modern fleet. However, seven of the ‘Parówki’ will be kept for posterity… while the rest will be scrapped.
